Nvidia Unveils New AI Chip Platform Amid Rising Competition • Channels Television

Nvidia, the world’s leading artificial‑intelligence technology company, unveiled its newest AI platform, Vera Rubin, at the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas. Named after American astronomer Vera Rubin, the platform marks a major shift from Nvidia’s previous AI architecture, Blackwell, which debuted in 2024. Nvidia says Vera Rubin will operate five times more efficiently than its predecessors, helping to address growing concerns about the energy demands of AI systems. The platform consists of six chips that work together as an AI supercomputer, designed to support advanced AI models while lowering costs.

The launch underscores Nvidia’s effort to cement its dominance in the global AI data‑center chip market, where it currently holds an estimated 80 % share. The company faces mounting competition from traditional chip makers such as AMD and Intel, as well as from its largest customers—including Google, Amazon, and Microsoft—who are developing their own AI chips to reduce reliance on Nvidia. Additionally, China is pursuing domestic alternatives to Nvidia products that have been subject to U.S. export restrictions.

Since the release of ChatGPT in 2022, Nvidia has continuously updated its product line to keep pace with the evolving needs of AI model builders. Dion Harris, Nvidia’s director of data center and high‑performance computing, emphasized that the Vera Rubin platform can “meet the needs of the most advanced models and drive down the cost of intelligence.” Products based on Vera Rubin are expected to become available through Nvidia’s partners in the second half of 2026.

By introducing Vera Rubin, Nvidia aims to maintain its leadership in the AI chip market amid pressure from multiple fronts. As the AI revolution accelerates, the company’s ability to innovate and adapt will be crucial to staying at the forefront of the industry.
