The Federal Government of Nigeria has established a Joint Implementation Committee to oversee the execution of the National Conference on Digital Literacy and Emerging Skills. Its primary objective is to drive the implementation of the conference’s resolutions and outcomes, aligning them with the Renewed Hope Agenda. The committee was inaugurated in Abuja by the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Senator George Akume, who was represented by the Permanent Secretary of the General Services Office, Dr. Ibrahim Abubakar Kana.

The initiative is a collaborative effort between the Office of the SGF and the Clergywealth Multi‑purpose Cooperative Society Limited (CWMSCL). According to Dr. Kana, it supports the Federal Government’s Digital Transformation Agenda and the National Digital Economy Policy and Strategy, aiming to achieve at least 95 % digital literacy by 2030 as outlined in President Bola Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda.

Chaired by Dr. Kana, the committee comprises representatives from various Ministries, Departments, and Agencies (MDAs), including the Federal Ministry of Communications, Innovations and Digital Economy, the Federal Ministry of Education, and the National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA). Its terms of reference include planning and organizing the National Digital Literacy Conference scheduled for 28–29 January 2026, and overseeing the training and certification of one million Nigerians in digital literacy and emerging skills.

CWMSCL aims to provide digital skills training and certification for one million youths as part of its community development initiatives. The establishment of the Joint Implementation Committee underscores the government’s commitment to enhancing digital literacy and promoting economic growth through emerging skills. With the committee’s oversight, the National Digital Literacy Conference and subsequent training programs are expected to play a significant role in empowering Nigerian youths with essential digital skills, thereby driving the country’s digital transformation and economic development.
