Aisha Yesufu Appointed ADC Deputy Chair

The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has taken a significant step towards repositioning itself for growth and improved electoral competitiveness with the inauguration of a 20-member membership revalidation committee. Chaired by Kashim Imam, with Aisha Yesufu as deputy chairperson and Dr Sekonte Davies as secretary, the committee is tasked with overseeing nationwide revalidation, fresh registrations, and grassroots mobilisation.

According to Senator David Mark, the national chairman of the party, the initiative is a major step towards achieving the party’s founding principles of justice, equity, accountability, and people-centred governance. The committee’s primary goal is to ensure the party has credible and verifiable membership data, which is essential for legitimacy, relevance, and national political success.

The membership revalidation exercise will involve the deployment of electronic and manual platforms to ensure transparency and documentation. New membership cards with state-specific security features will also be introduced. Senator Mark urged committee members to act with integrity, fairness, and inclusiveness while collaborating with state and local leaders nationwide.

The committee has 30 days to submit its report, and chairman Kashim Imam has pledged diligent and transparent service. Imam described the exercise as a turning point aimed at rebuilding the ADC into an inclusive, people-driven movement nationwide. The committee has begun work immediately, mobilising and registering Nigerians across the country.

The ADC’s move to revalidate its membership is part of a broader effort to strengthen its position in the country’s political landscape. With a focus on growth, unity, and cohesion, the party aims to improve its electoral competitiveness and increase its relevance in national politics. The success of the membership revalidation exercise will be crucial in determining the party’s future prospects and its ability to achieve its goals.
