Terrorism in Nigeria: Shehu Sani urges citizens to resist bandits

Former Nigerian lawmaker Shehu Sani has urged citizens to take a stand against terrorism, banditry, and other criminal activities plaguing the country. Speaking at the launch of his two books, “The Councillor” and “The Perilous Path to Europe”, in Abuja, Sani emphasized that Nigerians must unite to resist these threats. He stressed that the country’s problems cannot be solved by external forces, but rather through collective effort and determination.

Sani, who represented Kaduna Central Senatorial District, noted that Nigeria has a history of restoring peace in other countries, citing this as evidence that the nation can overcome its current challenges. He cautioned against relying on foreign powers to intervene, stating that “we are to do it ourselves.” The former senator highlighted the importance of a united and informed citizenry, supported by state institutions, in defeating those who seek to impose their will through violence.

The public presentation of Sani’s books provided a platform for him to address the country’s security concerns. He emphasized that the task of combating terrorism and banditry requires a collective effort, rather than relying on external assistance. Sani’s comments come at a time when Nigeria is grappling with numerous security challenges, including kidnappings, armed robbery, and insurgency.

The ex-senator’s call to action underscores the need for Nigerians to take ownership of their security and work towards a more stable and peaceful future. By emphasizing the importance of unity and self-reliance, Sani hopes to inspire citizens to play a more active role in addressing the country’s security challenges. As Nigeria continues to navigate these complex issues, Sani’s message serves as a reminder that the path to peace and stability requires collective effort and determination.
