Dele Momodu Pledges Support for ADC Presidential Candidate

Dele Momodu, a chieftain of the African Democratic Congress, has pledged to support the party’s presidential candidate in the 2027 elections, regardless of who emerges as the flag bearer. In a recent interview on News Central’s programme, Politics HQ, Momodu stated that he would work with any of the notable figures, including former Vice President Atiku, Peter Obi, Rotimi Amaechi, or Aminu Tambuwal, if they were to become the party’s candidate.

Momodu, a veteran journalist, emphasized his close relationship with each of these individuals, noting that he has a mutual respect for them. He mentioned that Peter Obi has visited his homes in Lagos, London, and Accra, and that he has also visited Obi’s home in Lagos. However, he stressed that his allegiance lies with the party, and he would support whoever emerges as the candidate.

The journalist expressed his admiration for Atiku, stating that he feels bad when people speak negatively about him. He highlighted Atiku’s role in giving Obi a national platform as his running mate in the 2019 elections, despite their loss. Momodu described Atiku as a “perfect gentleman” and a “consummate Democrat” who does not bear grudges.

The 2027 presidential elections are expected to be highly contested, with several parties and candidates already indicating their interest. The African Democratic Congress, as one of the major parties, is likely to play a significant role in the elections. By pledging his support to the party’s candidate, Momodu has demonstrated his commitment to the party’s goals and objectives.

The outcome of the 2027 elections will have significant implications for Nigeria’s political landscape. As the country continues to navigate its democratic journey, the support of prominent figures like Momodu can play a crucial role in shaping the electoral process. With his pledge, Momodu has reinforced his dedication to the African Democratic Congress and its mission to promote democratic values in Nigeria.
