Popular Nollywood actor Yul Edochie has addressed public criticism regarding his social media presence, explaining that a court order prevents him from posting pictures of his children with his estranged wife, May Edochie. His comments follow ongoing scrutiny over his frequent posts featuring only the children of his second wife, Judy Austin.
Speaking on the KAA Truth podcast with host Kel Armstrong Amobi, Edochie denied abandoning his sons. He emphasized that he maintains regular contact and financial support, stating he sent money to his 17-year-old son via the mother’s bank account as recently as three days ago. The actor provided a specific example, recounting how his son informed him of his recent university matriculation just one day before the event.
“If my children never come to you and complain, it’s funny because I’m in contact with my children,” Edochie said. He explained that while he wished to attend the ceremony, his son’s short notice and his own busy schedule prevented it. He highlighted their continued communication, noting his son subsequently sent him pictures from the event.
Edochie stressed that the dynamics of his first marriage should not impact his children. He directly countered claims of neglect by referencing the recent monetary support and daily communication. A central point in his explanation is a existing court order related to his ongoing divorce proceedings. He stated the order explicitly restricts either parent from posting content involving the children for their safety and privacy.
“There’s also a court order… that anything that has to do with my children, I shouldn’t post for their own safety,” he clarified. He specified that his sons, aged 17 and approximately 8, are both subject to this directive. “So it’s not like I don’t love them. They are my blood,” he added.
The actor’s statement frames his selective social media activity as compliance with legal mandates rather than a personal choice to exclude any of his children. He positioned his actions as protective, aiming to shield his sons from public discussion amid a contested legal process. The explanation seeks to reconcile his public image with the private constraints imposed by the court.
