Nigerian Military Reports Major Weekly Gains Against Terrorists, Criminals Across Six Zones

Abuja — Nigeria’s Defence Headquarters announced significant results from coordinated military operations across the country over the past week, reporting the neutralisation of numerous terrorists, the arrest of dozens of suspects, and the rescue of over 50 kidnapped victims.

The operations, conducted under various regional Joint Task Forces, also led to the recovery of a large cache of weapons and ammunition, including Rocket Propelled Grenades, machine guns, locally fabricated firearms, and materials for making Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs).

Focused Campaigns in the North-East
In the North-East, troops of Operation Hadin Kai sustained pressure on Boko Haram and Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP) terrorists across Borno, Yobe, and Adamawa states. Intelligence-driven missions in Local Government Areas including Bama, Damboa, and Konduga resulted in dozens of terrorists neutralised, eight arrests, and the rescue of 11 kidnapping victims. Weapons and logistical supplies were also captured. In a specific ambush at Komala Village, Jere LGA, several terrorists were neutralised, with motorcycles, weapons, and items seized. Air component operations additionally targeted terrorist positions in Chongolo Kura and Abbagajere Village, destroying their structures.

Expanding Operations Nationwide
Meanwhile, Operation Fansan Yamma in the North-West (Zamfara, Kano, Katsina) neutralised multiple terrorists, rescued two kidnapped victims, and recovered weapons, vehicles, and rustled livestock.

In the North-Central, Operations SAVANNAH SHIELD, ENDURING PEACE, and WHIRL STROKE dislodged terrorists from hideouts across Kwara, Niger, Plateau, Kaduna, Benue, Taraba, and Kogi. These actions led to 16 arrests, the rescue of 26 kidnapping victims, and the seizure of arms, ammunition, and motorcycles.

Addressing criminality in the Niger Delta, Operation DELTA SAFE in Rivers and Bayelsa states foiled oil theft, destroyed nine illegal refining sites, arrested 11 suspects, and recovered arms and ammunition.

In the South-East, Operation UDO KA conducted cordon and search operations in Ebonyi, Abia, Anambra, Cross River, Enugu, and Imo states, resulting in the arrest of eight individuals linked to terrorist activities and the recovery of weapons and ammunition.

Sustained Commitment
Chief of Defence Staff, General Olufemi Oluyede, commended the troops for their courage and resilience. He assured Nigerians of the military’s sustained operations, strengthened inter-agency collaboration, and continued efforts to secure peace nationwide. The reported weekly gains underscore an ongoing, multi-front campaign against terrorism, kidnapping, and criminal enterprises across Nigeria’s diverse geopolitical zones.
