Rema’s ‘Rave & Roses’ Becomes Longest-Charting Album on Billboard World Chart
Nigerian artist Rema has achieved a new milestone for African music, as his debut album Rave & Roses has become the longest-charting album by an African artist on the Billboard World Albums Chart. The album reached 170 weeks on the chart, surpassing the previous record of 164 weeks held by Wizkid’s Made In Lagos.
Rave & Roses first entered the Billboard World Albums Chart in 2022 following its March release. Its sustained presence underscores the global reach and enduring popularity of Afrobeats. The record’s run places it ahead of other significant African projects that have enjoyed long chart lives, including Tems’ Born In The Wild (79 weeks), Burna Boy’s Love, Damini (63 weeks), and Fela Kuti’s classic compilation The Best Of The Black President (45 weeks).
In a separate chart development, Rema also secured his second entry on the Billboard Hot 100 this week. His collaboration with Don Toliver, “Secondhand,” debuted at number 29. This follows his first Hot 100 appearance with the global hit “Calm Down.”
Meanwhile, fellow Nigerian star Tems added to her Billboard success with a new debut on the Hot 100. Her feature on an unspecified new song brings her total Hot 100 entries to seven. This ties her with Burna Boy and the South African rock band Seether for the most Hot 100 chart appearances by any artist from Africa.
These concurrent milestones highlight the increasing and sustained commercial impact of African artists on major international charts. Rema’s album longevity record demonstrates consistent audience engagement over years, while the ongoing Hot 100 entries for both Rema and Tems reflect expanding mainstream radio and streaming appeal.
