Influencer King Mitchy Alive After Management Retracts Death Announcement
The management of Nigerian social media influencer Michelle Mukoro, widely known as King Mitchy, has withdrawn a statement announcing her death, confirming she is alive following a controversial series of events stemming from an online dispute.
In a new statement, her management team clarified the earlier report was erroneous, stating simply, “Michelle is okay now.” This retraction comes after the initial announcement claimed Mukoro died at Prime Care Hospital in Abuja despite medical efforts to save her, and urged privacy for her family.
The incident began amid a heated public disagreement between Mukoro and activist VeryDarkMan. The conflict centered on allegations regarding Mukoro’s charitable activities, including claims she renovated a school within six days. She subsequently challenged VeryDarkMan to account for public donations he managed since 2025.
Tensions intensified when VeryDarkMan alleged that Seyi Tinubu, son of President Bola Tinubu, financially supported Mukoro’s philanthropy. The dispute reportedly led to the suspension of Mukoro’s business Instagram account. A pivotal moment occurred during a live video broadcast where Mukoro was seen consuming a substance identified as “hypo,” a common brand of chlorine-based bleach.
Following the initial death claim, Prime Care Hospital issued a strong denial, stating Mukoro was never admitted to their facility. The hospital warned it would pursue legal action against those spreading the false information about her death.
