The Lagos State chapter of Nigeria’s governing All Progressives Congress (APC) has categorically denied media reports that its delegates were left stranded during the party’s recent national convention in Abuja, describing the allegations as false and misleading.
The party’s denial, issued in a statement by its spokesman Seye Oladejo on Saturday, directly countered circulating claims that logistical failures, stemming from the non-release of mobilisation funds, marred the Lagos delegation’s attendance. Oladejo stated that all accredited delegates from Lagos were transported to the federal capital through a well-coordinated arrangement. He added that upon arrival, delegates were provided with appropriate accommodation, ensuring their comfort throughout the convention period.
A key point of clarification concerned funding. Oladejo noted that the Lagos State Government does not finance APC activities, emphasizing that the party independently manages its operational and logistical requirements through its internal structures. This distinction addresses speculation about state involvement in the delegation’s travel.
