Wizkid Blasts Burna Boy Over DJ Tunez Assault Controversy

Afrobeat star Wizkid has publicly criticized fellow Nigerian musician Burna Boy following an altercation at a Lagos nightclub on Monday night. The incident involved DJ Tunez, Wizkid’s official DJ, who was reportedly assaulted by Burna Boy and his entourage after refusing to play Burna Boy’s music. According to eyewitness accounts, the confrontation escalated into a physical attack, leaving DJ Tunez injured.

The Nigerian DJ Association (NDJ) swiftly responded by banning Burna Boy’s songs from playlists across the country in solidarity with DJ Tunez. The ban underscores the association’s stance against violence and intimidation within the entertainment industry.

Burna Boy later posted a video on social media, appearing to mock DJ Tunez while wrapped in a towel, which further inflamed tensions. Wizkid, in a series of posts on X (formerly Twitter), accused Burna Boy of acting foolishly by bringing a large group to confront a single individual. He also referenced Burna Boy’s past association with embattled American rapper Diddy, suggesting Burna Boy was using Diddy’s towel in the video. Wizkid’s remarks included strong language, describing Burna Boy as a “fool” and questioning his actions.

Burna Boy has previously faced allegations of a same-sex relationship with Diddy, which he has denied, maintaining that their relationship is strictly professional. Diddy, meanwhile, was arrested in 2024 and later sentenced to prison on multiple sexual assault charges.

The incident has sparked widespread discussion within Nigeria’s music community, highlighting ongoing tensions between prominent artists and raising concerns about professional conduct and respect among industry peers.
