Celebrity Nigerian cryptocurrency entrepreneur Linus Williams Ifejirika, widely known as Blord, has been granted bail after spending several weeks in Kuje Prison over allegations of impersonating social media commentator Martins Vincent Otse, popularly called VeryDarkMan.
Activist and former presidential candidate Omolere Sowore announced the development in a brief statement posted on his official Facebook account on Friday. According to Sowore, Blord was released on his own recognizance following his arraignment at the Federal High Court in Abuja. However, the court ordered him to deposit his international passport as part of the bail conditions.
“Bail has been granted to Linus Williams, popularly known as @mrblordofficial BLORD, on self-recognizance. The court, however, ordered that he deposit his international passport as part of the bail conditions,” Sowore wrote.
Blord’s remand in prison had been ordered on April 1, 2026, following his arrest on charges related to alleged impersonation.
The case has drawn significant attention due to Blord’s prominence in Nigeria’s cryptocurrency sector and the high-profile nature of the accusations. VeryDarkMan, the individual allegedly impersonated, is a well-known social media commentator with a large following.
Blord, whose real name is Linus Williams Ifejirika, has built a reputation as a leading figure in Nigeria’s digital currency space, with a substantial online presence and business ventures tied to blockchain technology.
The court’s decision to grant bail on recognizance, while requiring the deposit of his passport, suggests a measured approach, balancing the seriousness of the allegations with the defendant’s rights. The next steps in the legal process remain to be seen as the case proceeds.
