Self-styled relationship expert Blessing Okoro, known online as Blessing CEO, has publicly apologised to Nigerians amid mounting controversy over her alleged health claims and fundraising efforts. In a video posted on her official Instagram account on Monday, she addressed supporters and critics alike, expressing regret for the “unnecessary drama, embarrassment, and controversy” surrounding her situation.
Okoro, whose full name is Okoro Blessing Nkiruka, had previously come under scrutiny after reports emerged that she had solicited financial assistance from the public for the treatment of stage 4 cancerāa claim that sparked widespread debate and calls for transparency. In her statement, she maintained that she did not mislead the public about her health issues, but acknowledged the confusion her case had caused.
“I want to start by saying I am sorry, very sorry to my loved ones, fans, well-wishers, and to all Nigerians,” she said. “I am sorry for the unnecessary drama, embarrassment, and controversy surrounding my health issues. I want to genuinely apologize.”
To address concerns, Okoro pledged to release her medical records, including scan results and biopsy reports, as part of a documented health journey. She also invited those who had contributed funds and wished to be refunded to contact her team via WhatsApp or direct message, providing their receipt and account details for reimbursement.
“Please be patient with me,” she urged. “I will start by uploading my scan results officially, down to my biopsy, and carry you all on this journey.”
The controversy has drawn significant public attention, with many Nigerians calling for greater accountability from public figures who seek financial support for medical treatment. Okoro’s apology and promise of transparency mark a significant development in the ongoing debate over online fundraising and the responsibilities of influencers in Nigeria.
