Afrobeat star David Adeleke, known professionally as Davido, has been announced as an inductee for the 2026 Black Music and Entertainment Walk of Fame in Atlanta, Georgia. The Black American Music Association and the Georgia Entertainment Caucus revealed the 2026 class ahead of the induction ceremony slated for 1 June on Atlanta’s Historic Westside.
Davido joins a roster that includes rapper and actor Ludacris, Atlanta‑based artist and philanthropist Paul Morton, gospel singer Maynard Jackson, and former Atlanta mayor Maynard Jackson. The honor places the Nigerian‑American singer alongside other influential figures who have shaped Black culture and global music, and adds him to a short list of African artists previously recognized by the Walk of Fame, such as late Afrobeat pioneer Fela Kuti.
The Black Music & Entertainment Walk of Fame was created to acknowledge entertainers and cultural leaders whose work has impacted Black music and entertainment worldwide. Inductees receive plaques installed along the walkway in Atlanta, cementing their legacy in the broader narrative of Black cultural influence.
Davido’s induction arrives as he commemorates 15 years in the music industry. In a post on his X account (formerly Twitter), the artist wrote, “God is the best of all planners! 15 years in da game,” reflecting on his career milestones.
Born in Atlanta, Georgia, Davido launched his professional music career in 2011. His debut studio album, Omo Baba Olowo (2012), blended Afrobeats and hip‑hop and featured the hit single “Dami Duro,” which propelled him to national prominence. Over the subsequent fifteen years he has released five studio albums—Omo Baba Olowo (2012), A Good Time (2019), A Better Time (2020), Timeless (2023) and 5ive (2025)—and amassed a catalog of chart‑topping tracks across Africa and beyond.
International recognition has followed his commercial success. Davido earned three nominations at the 66th Annual Grammy Awards (2024), including Best Global Music Album for Timeless. He has also accumulated numerous awards and nominations across major African and global award platforms.
The upcoming induction ceremony will formally honor Davido’s contributions to Afrobeat and contemporary music, underscoring the growing influence of African artists on the global stage and their role in shaping Black cultural heritage.
