FIFA announced on Instagram that Nigerian Afrobeats star Rema will headline the opening ceremony of the 2026 FIFA World Cup in Los Angeles. The singer joins a multinational roster that includes LISA, Katy Perry, Tyla, Future and Anitta, scheduled to perform on 12 June 2026, the tournament’s kickoff night.

The governing body said the lineup “reflects the cultural diversity of the United States and the vibrancy of its many diasporas, highlighting the nation’s rich influence on music, entertainment and pop culture, while showcasing the power of music to bring people together across the country.”

In addition to the opening ceremony, FIFA confirmed that the tournament’s official anthem, “Dai Dai,” will be recorded by Burna Boy and Shakira. Media Talk Africa reported that the track is set for release on 14 May 2026.

The World Cup final, slated for 19 July 2026, will feature the competition’s first Super Bowl‑style halftime show. The performance will be curated by Coldplay frontman Chris Martin, marking a new approach to the event’s closing entertainment.

These announcements underscore FIFA’s effort to position the 2026 World Cup as a cultural as well as a sporting showcase, leveraging global music icons to broaden the tournament’s appeal. Further details on the full program and additional performers are expected in the coming weeks as the event’s organizers finalize the schedule.
