Lagos State Governor Babajide Olusola Sanwo‑Olu has appointed Mr Kayode Oyekanmi as the new General Manager of Lagos State Television, succeeding Mrs Sola Kosoko. The appointment was formalised in a brief ceremony at the State Secretariat in Alausa, where Lagos State Head of Service Mr Bode Agoro presented Oyekanmi with the letter of appointment.
Agoro highlighted Oyekanmi’s long‑standing commitment, professionalism and extensive experience within the Lagos State public service, expressing confidence that he will steer the state‑owned broadcaster toward a more dynamic future. He wished Oyekanmi a productive tenure.
Before taking up the post, Oyekanmi served as Director of the Strategy Centre at the Lagos State Ministry of Information and Strategy, a role he has held since 2022. With more than three decades of experience in communications, advertising, public relations, media and export services, he brings a broad skill set to the station. He entered the Lagos State civil service on 1 March 2000 as a Public Affairs Practitioner in the Ministry of Information and Strategy.
A native of Isale Eko on Lagos Island, Oyekanmi has been recognised for his contributions to journalism and public communication. He holds a Master’s degree in Public Administration from the University of Lagos and a Bachelor’s degree in English Language and Education from Lagos State University. He is a member of the Nigeria Union of Journalists and the Nigerian Institute of Public Relations, and currently serves as Charter President of the Lagos State Ministry of Information Toastmasters Club. Outside work, he is an avid reader and lawn‑tennis enthusiast.
The appointment comes as Lagos State seeks to revitalise its television service and enhance its role in delivering news and entertainment to a diverse audience. Observers will be watching how Oyekanmi’s strategic background influences programming, editorial standards and audience engagement in the months ahead.
