Prof. Chris Imumolen, the factional national chairman of the Accord Party, has predicted that Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke will lose the forthcoming governorship election. In a statement issued by Israel Jagunmolu, Imumolen warned that voters should not waste their ballots on Adeleke, whom he described as unlikely to prevail at the polls.
Imumolen said his confidence extends beyond the electoral contest. He argued that Adeleke could still face legal consequences even if he emerges victorious, citing an ongoing leadership dispute within the Accord Party currently before the Federal High Court in Abuja. “We are expecting victory in the judgment very soon,” Imumolen stated.
The legal proceedings have moved through the Court of Appeal and now rest with the Federal High Court. Imumolen maintained that recent developments have strengthened the position of the faction he leads. He characterized the dispute as a matter of legitimate leadership and structural authority within the party, not merely an internal disagreement.
According to Imumolen, a victory by Adeleke at the polls would not necessarily end the political and legal challenges surrounding his candidacy. “If Adeleke loses at the polls, the people of Osun will have rejected him. A victory at the polls could still be challenged through the ongoing legal process,” he said.
The Accord chieftain expressed confidence that the judiciary will vindicate his faction’s position and establish the recognized leadership structure of the party as political activities intensify ahead of the election. The outcome of the court case is expected to have direct implications for the political landscape in Osun State.
