Adeleke’s Re-election in Osun Hailed by Governors’ Forum as a Win for Democracy

NGF congratulates Governor Adeleke on Osun re-election, praising voter turnout, security efforts, and President Tinubu's statesmanship.

Ademola-Adeleke-1

The Nigeria Governors’ Forum (NGF) has broken its silence on the fiercely contested Osun State governorship race, attributing Governor Ademola Jackson Adeleke’s victory to the unmistakable strides and personal appeal that have come to define his leadership. In a statement released on Sunday, the forum’s chairman, Governor Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq, extended heartfelt congratulations to Adeleke while praising the people of Osun for their remarkable turnout at the polls.

The off-cycle ballot, according to the NGF, served as yet another testament to the enduring strength of Nigerian democracy, with the intense interest it generated underscoring the electorate’s growing engagement. The forum also took a moment to acknowledge the vital role played by opposition parties in enriching the democratic process, commending all candidates for their spirited but principled campaigns.

Security agencies received a special nod of approval for their efforts in suppressing early signs of violence in the run-up to the election, ensuring that the exercise unfolded with minimal disruptions. The NGF did not overlook the balancing act performed by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, whose dual role as ruling party leader and father of the nation was handled with notable statesmanship.

Closing on a forward-looking note, the forum expressed confidence that Adeleke would not rest on his laurels but rather build upon the achievements of his first term, steering Osun State toward greater prosperity for all its residents.
