A new initiative is set to transform the career trajectories of hundreds of young Nigerians, as Standard Chartered Bank Nigeria Limited joins forces with Junior Achievement Nigeria (JAN) to deliver a high-impact Digital Bootcamp Programme. The collaboration is designed to arm participants with the practical skills needed to thrive in a fast-changing digital economy.
The intensive 10-day bootcamps will reach more than 600 young people across Ondo, Abuja, Rivers, and Kaduna states. Participants will roll up their sleeves in hands-on training sessions covering project management, data analysis, cybersecurity, UI/UX design, IT support, and digital marketing. The focus is squarely on building industry-relevant expertise that translates directly into job readiness.
The programme casts a wide net, specifically targeting graduates, National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) members, women, and young people from low-income communities. By bridging critical skills gaps, the initiative aims to open doors to both employment and entrepreneurship in Nigeria’s expanding digital landscape.
This effort is backed by the Standard Chartered Foundation, which has long prioritized youth employability and economic participation. The Foundation’s broader mission is to level the playing field for underserved young people by providing the skills, knowledge, and networks necessary to succeed in the future workforce. It also seeks to tackle inequality head-on, creating clear pathways to sustainable livelihoods for youth around the globe.
But the partnership goes beyond writing a cheque. Standard Chartered employees will step in as volunteers through the Bank’s Skills-Based Volunteering Programme. These professionals will share their expertise, mentor participants, and play a direct role in nurturing Nigeria’s next wave of digital talent.
Olaolu Akogun, Acting Executive Director of Junior Achievement Nigeria, emphasized the power of collaboration: “Strong partnerships create lasting impact. We are proud to partner with Standard Chartered in expanding access to digital skills training for young Nigerians. This investment demonstrates a shared commitment to building a workforce that is ready for the opportunities of the digital age.”
Joke Adu, Head of Corporate Affairs, Brand & Marketing at Standard Chartered Bank Nigeria Limited, added: “We believe that empowering young people with future-ready skills is one of the most meaningful investments we can make in our communities. Through this partnership with Junior Achievement Nigeria, we are helping to equip over 600 young Nigerians with practical digital capabilities that are increasingly essential for employment, entrepreneurship and economic participation. Beyond funding, we are also proud to contribute the expertise of our people through skills-based volunteering, reinforcing our commitment to creating sustainable opportunities and supporting the next generation of leaders, innovators and changemakers.”
As technology continues to reshape industries and redraw the map of workforce requirements, the Digital Bootcamp Programme stands as a timely response. It aims to boost young people’s access to high-demand skills while strengthening Nigeria’s overall digital talent pipeline.
The initiative underscores Standard Chartered’s ongoing commitment to advancing economic inclusion and supporting community projects that deliver lasting social impact through education, employability, and entrepreneurship.
