Shootings in Lagos as thugs invade polling unit, cart away ballot boxes

Hoodlums suspected to be political thugs have reportedly snatched ballot boxes at Polling Unit 075 in Iyana-Isashi area of Lagos State.

The incident, according to residents, disrupted the ongoing governorship and state assembly elections in the area.

One of the electorates who cast his vote prior to the incident, Collins Michael told Daily Trust that the thugs came in numbers and snatched the ballot boxes amid shooting.

He said, “We were voting peacefully when we heard noise coming from the bus stop. People started running as thugs came in motorcycles to scatter this place. They snatched the ballot boxes and left, while we ran for safety.”

Media Talk Africa earlier reported how thugs attempting to disrupt elections in Gboko South, Benue State were killed by military officers.
