Meaningful progress will be elusive without peace, unity among Nigerians – Etsu Nupe

The Etsu Nupe and Chairman, Niger State Council of Traditional Rulers, Alhaji Yahaya Abubakar, has noted that without peace and unity among Nigerians across religious, ethnic and cultural divides, making meaningful development by the country would continue to be elusive.

The Etsu Nupe, who stated this during the closing of Ramadan Tafsir at the Maasaba Jumma’at Mosque in Bida on Tuesday, underscored the need for sustainable peace and unity by the people.

According to him, “There is no alternative to peace, as without peace, meaningful development would continue to elude the country. God created Nigerians differently for a purpose, and He never made mistakes.

“The diversities in ethnic, religious and cultural affiliation of Nigerians were to make them more united rather than dividing them”.

The royal father also reminded Muslims to continue to extend love to others and practice selfless service to humanity during and after the holy month of Ramadan.

He appealed to wealthy individuals and philanthropists to continue showing gratitude by helping others and exhibiting total submission to God’s commandments by abiding by the lessons learnt during the Tafsir preachings.

He further observed that many Muslims became saints during Ramadan only to return to committing sins afterwards, cautioning, “the faithful should continue to abstain from sinful acts at all times”.
