Iheanacho rescues Leicester from Wolves defeat

Nigerian player, Kelechi Iheanacho, on Saturday, helped Leicester City secure victory against Wolverhampton Wanderers at the King Power Stadium.

His goal from the spot inspired Leicester City’s comeback from a goal down to secure a vital 2-1 victory against Wolverhampton.

Matheus Cunha’s early opener for Wolves threatened to deepen the Foxes’ misery after a four-match losing run that saw them plummet into the bottom three.

He levelled scores for the hosts with a well-taken penalty eight minutes before the break.

Presently, Ihenacho has netted 55 goals for the Foxes.

Leicester City coach, Dean Smith, described the victory as a massive win.

He said, “It’s a massive win, one we’ve needed.

“It shows an awful lot of character to come from a goal down and a mistake which led to a goal. Mentally it will give all the players a lift.”

He, however, said it means nothing moving out of the relegation zone

“It means nothing, we need to keep climbing out of there and separate ourselves as much as we can.

“We will enjoy this moment and how it feels to win a game after a while and get ready for Tuesday and Leeds.

“I think there’s a relief because of the run we’ve been on. I’ve just addressed them in the dressing room and said, ‘Enjoy it but don’t get too high because we’ve got another big game on Tuesday’ and recovery is the most important thing for them now,” he said.
