Jigawa govt postpones school resumption over census

Jigawa State government has postponed secondary and primary school resumption by one week for the National Census Exercise.

This was contained in a press statement signed by the Public Relations Officer, Ministry of Education Science and Technology Wasilu Umar Ringim issued to newsmen.

The statement said the extension is a result of the forthcoming National Census Exercise scheduled to commence next week across the country.

According to the statement,” Jigawa State Ministry of Education Science Technology wishes to inform parents and heads of public and private schools in the state that the resumption of schools for the Third Term Academic session, scheduled on Monday has been shifted to next Monday the 9th, of May 2023.”

He said Day and Boarding students are expected to be in their schools on Tuesday the 9th of May 2023 for the immediate commencement of normal lessons.

The statement further said the decision taken was to enable teachers and children participate and be counted in the national census exercise.

He appealed to parents to ensure their wards resume school on the stipulated date as the school’s authorities will not accept late coming without a genuine reason and introductory letter from the Ministry of Education.
