Delta sets up body on illegal revenue agents

Delta State Governor, Ifeanyi Okowa

The Delta State Security Council on Tuesday mandated the state police command to work closely with the state’s Joint Taskforce on Road Tax and Revenue Leakages, headed by Mr Malachi Moye, to tackle illegal revenue agents.

The measure was taken with a view to eradicating the unwholesome activities of illegal revenue agents.

This was contained in a letter to the Delta State Police Command signed by the Director-General (Security Matters), State Security Council, Mr David Tonwe.

While expressing concern over the proliferation of revenue task forces in the state, the director-general said the State Security Council had set up a special committee to stop the ugly trend.

He equally sought the cooperation of the state police command in enforcing the directive.

The letter, which was also copied by the Department of State Services, reiterated the state government’s desire to ensure that the illegal activities of revenue touts were put to a stop.
