Federation Cup: Enyimba beat Rivers United on penalties, move to Round of 32

Four-time champions, Enyimba defeated Rivers United 5-4 on penalties in a thrilling Federation Cup Round of 64 contest in Uyo on Thursday night.

The game ended 0-0 after 90 minutes of gruelling football action at the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium.

The encounter went into penalties with Enyimba converting all five kicks.

Ghanaian midfielder Farouk Mohammed, who was once in the books of Enyimba, was the only player to miss in the shootout.

Chijioke Mbaoma scored the decisive kick for Enyimba.

Enyimba will now face another Nigeria Professional Football League side, Plateau United in the Round of 32.

The Round of 32 games will be played across different centres next week Wednesday.

The winner of the Federation Cup will represent Nigeria in the CAF Confederation Cup next season.
