Skit maker and influencer Bukunmi Adeaga-Ilori, popularly known as Kiekie, recently opened up about why she left her job as a TV presenter. According to Kiekie, she quit after her boss made an inappropriate comment in response to her request for a salary increase.
During a candid conversation with popular media personality Chude Jideonwo, Kiekie disclosed that her former boss told her to use her looks to make more money instead of addressing her salary request.
“I once had a boss that I complained to that ‘this salary you used to pay me is not sufficient. Can you pay me more?’ And this man told me that, ‘Why are you stressing yourself? You are fine na, you are on TV, big, big men will see you, and they will give you money,’” Kiekie revealed.
This response was a major turning point in Kiekie’s life, leading her to quit her job and pursue her passion for comedy instead. She felt undervalued and unappreciated, and knew that she had to make a change.
Despite facing some initial challenges, Kiekie has gradually made a name for herself in the comedy industry. Her talent and hard work as a skit maker and influencer have not gone unnoticed, and she has since gained a dedicated following of fans who appreciate her unique sense of humour.
For Kiekie, leaving her job was a difficult decision, but it was one that she has never regretted. She knew that she wanted to follow her dreams and make a difference in the world through her art, and she has done just that.
