Reno Omokri Condemns Silence of Oby Ezekwesili on Killing of US Officials in Anambra Ambush

Former presidential aide, Reno Omokri, has lamented the silence of former Minister of Education, Oby Ezekwesili, on the ambush that led to the death of American Consulate officials among others, and called for justice for the victims. The attack, which occurred near Amiyi/Eke Ochuche communities in Ogbaru Local Government Area of Anambra State, has prompted an investigation.

In his statement, Omokri expressed his disappointment with Ezekwesili, who hails from Anambra, for her silence following the attack. He noted that she had been quick to condemn other acts of violence in different parts of Nigeria, but had failed to do so in this instance.

Reno Omokri recalled instances where Ezekwesili had quickly taken to social media to condemn violence in other parts of the country. However, she has remained quiet on the recent killings in Anambra. He cited the murder of Deborah Samuel in Sokoto State and the killing of Harira Jubril and her daughters in Anambra, which Ezekwesili failed to acknowledge.

Omokri further revealed that Ezekwesili had failed to condemn the murder of Ahmed Gulak, a former presidential aide who was killed in Imo State in May 2021.

The author referred to Ezekwesili’s selective outrage and advised the U.S. Embassy in Nigeria and the State Department in Washington D.C., to pay attention to the former presidential candidate’s silence.

The deceased, who were on a humanitarian mission, included two personnel from the American Consulate and two police officers. The attack on them has been condemned by Nigerians across the country, who are calling for justice for the victims.
