Governor Ayade prioritizes salaries and pensions over other developmental projects

In a recent interview, the Governor of Cross River State, Ben Ayade, emphasized that paying salaries and pensions is a greater achievement than any other development project considering the current situation of the country.

While speaking on Arise TV’s morning show on Wednesday, Governor Ayade highlighted that he is very conscious of the poor circumstances in which he was brought up as the son of a civil servant. It is, therefore, essential that salaries and pensions are given utmost priority in the state under his administration.

He contested the rationale behind building a skyscraper when the citizens are poor and emphasized that salary and pension payments are critical if citizens are to benefit from any development initiatives, including good road networks.

Meanwhile, the Trade Union Congress (TUC) of Cross River State revealed that no civil servant in the state had received a promotion in the last seven years, other than the payment of regular salaries and pensions. During the press conference, TUC Chairman, Monday Ogbodum, lamented that Ayade’s administration had one of the worst worker welfare policies in the state.
