Delta State Police Command apprehends 10 suspected kidnappers and other criminals

The Delta State Police Command has recently conducted a successful operation to apprehend several suspected kidnappers and other criminals.

One of the operations led to the arrest of ten suspected kidnappers who were believed to be operating on the Sapele-Warri road. The police recovered a Toyota Corolla with registration number WWR 353 LS, a single-barrelled pistol, and 11 rounds of live ammunition from the suspects. The suspects were identified as Nyero Sunday (29) and eight others from Okpe Local Government Area of the state. They reportedly confessed to numerous kidnapping and armed robbery operations and admitted to terrorizing the Sapele-Warri road.

The police also arrested Umar Bello (33), a resident of Warri originally from Sokoto State, for purchasing phones and other valuables robbed from their victims.

In another operation led by the DPO SP Bolarinwa Alabi, police officers conducting visibility and confidence-building patrols apprehended a tricycle with three male occupants. The riders attempted to flee when they were stopped by the police, but one of them, Nworie Emmanuel (20), was arrested. Emmanuel confessed to being a member of a three-man gang that used a tricycle to rob people of their belongings along Airport Road in Warri. Police investigators recovered the tricycle, a knife used to threaten victims, and other exhibits in police custody.

In a separate operation, the Delta State Police Command’s crack squad raided a criminal blackspot near Osuani in Patani LGA and arrested Priscillia Amor, a 35-year-old woman. They seized 26 wraps of suspected Indian hemp, 19 wraps of suspected methamphetamine, eight packs of rizlas, and several mobile phones. The police are still investigating to identify and apprehend other members of the gang.

These successful operations are part of the Delta State Police Command’s proactive development of an intelligence-led operation that prioritizes public safety. The police are urging residents of Delta State to continue to provide them with credible intelligence to aid their operations and apprehension of criminals.
