FG Unveils Programme for Inauguration of Tinubu and Shettima as President and VP

In preparation for the inauguration of the President-elect, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, as the 16th President of Nigeria, on May 29th, the Federal Government has released the programme of events. Speaking at a press conference in Abuja, the Secretary to the Government of the Federation and Chairman of Presidential Transition Council, Mr Boss Mustapha, said that the event will celebrate the seventh consecutive democratic transition of power since the start of democracy in Nigeria.

The inauguration, which is expected to be graced by top dignitaries, will also feature the swearing-in of Kashim Shettima as Vice President. Mustapha stated that the event will take place at the Eagle Square and assured citizens that the transition of power will be smooth and uninterrupted, regardless of any pending litigation in court.

The theme for the 2023 Presidential inauguration is “Nigeria: Better Together,” and Mustapha emphasized the significance of the event, stating that it reflects the country’s commitment to democratic values and lessons in nationhood. He also said that planning had been put in place to institutionalize the inauguration process through legislation.

The programme of events will hold on Monday, May 29, 2023, and will feature a parade and swearing-in ceremony. As Nigerians anticipate the historic event, the government continues to advocate for unity, peace, and progress in the country.
