Two officials from Kebbi State Ministry of Basic and Secondary Education have been suspended over insubordination. The announcement was made by Yahaya Sarki, the Special Adviser to Governor Atiku Bagudu, citing a circular by the state acting head of service Safiyanu Garba-Bena.
According to Garba-Bena, the two state officials, Hassan Abubakar-Ngaski, Component Lead 1.1 and Abubakar Sule, Project Coordinator, were suspended because they had concealed critical information concerning the new construction on the Adolescent Girls’ Learning and Empowerment (AGILE) program, which amounts to an act of insubordination and disrespect for the constituted authority.
Garba-Bena further explained that the offenses of insubordination and dereliction of duties by the officials contravene Public Service Rule No. 030301 (H) and (O), which is punishable by law. The officials have received suspension letters with immediate effect until further notice.
The government’s decision to suspend the officials is expected to serve as a deterrent to other government officials who might engage in acts of insubordination and other related crimes in the future.
