Outgoing Governor of Kaduna State Challenges Former Governors to Swear By Holy Quran

In a recent valedictory media chat on the Hausa Service of the Kaduna State Media Corporation (KSMC), Governor Nasir El-rufai challenged former governors in the state to swear with the Holy Qur’an that they did not steal public funds while in office. El-rufai specifically accused one of the former governors of building a mansion with allegedly stolen money.

The outgoing governor went on to state that he could swear he never stole a penny from the government coffers. El-rufai expressed his satisfaction with the work his administration had done, saying that the quality of the projects they had started would benefit the state for years to come.

This statement has stirred up a heated debate in political and social circles, especially as the governor prepares to hand over to a new administration. Many have commended him for his transparency and courage, while others have criticized his approach, calling it confrontational and unnecessary.

As the people of Kaduna State await the response of the former governors, El-rufai’s challenge has once again highlighted the issue of corruption in Nigeria’s political sphere. It has also reignited the debate over what actions should be taken to hold public officials accountable for mismanaging public funds.

It remains to be seen how this challenge will play out, and whether it will result in any significant changes or reforms in the state’s politics. Nonetheless, it serves as a reminder of the importance of transparency and accountability in governance.
