Garba Shehu: Buhari Suffers from Nigerians’ High Expectations

Garba Shehu, the senior special to the President on Media and Publicity, has recently claimed that President Muhammadu Buhari is a victim of high expectations by the Nigerian populace during his eight-year tenure. As reported by Media Talk Africa, Shehu made this statement during a Channels Television interview on Thursday.

The president’s performance has come under criticism in recent times. Shehu, however, defended Buhari, stating that no country in the world has successfully solved all of its problems. The spokesperson acknowledged that while Buhari has given his best to Nigeria, the country’s problems can only be tackled one at a time.

“President Buhari is a victim of the tyranny of expectations. Nigerians thought he would solve all the problems of the country in eight years, but no country on earth has solved its problems 100 per cent. President Muhammadu Buhari has done his best for the country; he deserves to go home and rest, and Nigerians would cherish him afterward”, he said.

Buhari was first inaugurated as president on May 29th, 2015, and re-elected in 2019. Despite the challenges his administration has encountered in the past years, Garba Shehu believes that history will be kind to Buhari, and his contributions to Nigeria will be remembered.
