Police Caution Against Breach of Peace Ahead of May 29 Inauguration in Zamfara

The Commissioner of Police in Zamfara State, Mohammed Bunu, has warned against any act of violence or disobedience before, during, and after the inauguration and swearing-in ceremony of the new administration in the state scheduled for May 29, 2023.

Bunu disclosed this during a press briefing held at the police command headquarters on Friday while detailing the preparations for the inauguration ceremony. The gubernatorial election held on February 25, 2023, was won by Dauda Lawal Dare, the candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), alongside his deputy, Malam Mani Malam Mummuni.

The Zamfara State Police Command has called on members of the public to shun violence and maintain peace during the inauguration ceremony. They also specifically appealed to the supporters of the two major political parties in the state, the All Progressives Congress (APC) and Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), to conduct themselves peacefully to prevent any disruption of the peace in the state.

Furthermore, Bunu assured that the police command will coordinate with other security agencies to maintain a peaceful atmosphere before, during, and after the inauguration ceremony.
