The Governor of Oyo State, Seyi Makinde, has directed the immediate dissolution of the board and management of the Ladoke Akintola University Teaching Hospital (LAUTECH), Ogbomoso. The announcement was made in a statement released by Segun Ogunwuyi, the Chairman of the Transition and Inauguration Committee, on Friday.
According to Ogunwuyi, the affected persons have been instructed to hand over all government property in their possession to the committee. He further stated that the decision was made in line with the directive of Governor Seyi Makinde.
“The management and board of the hospital are by this directive required to officially hand over and submit all government property to the transition and inauguration committee,” Ogunwuyi said.
In his remarks, Ogunwuyi thanked the affected officials for their contributions towards the development of the state. He wished them success in their future endeavours.
No reason has been given for the dissolution of the board and management of the teaching hospital.
LAUTECH was a collaboration between two states, Oyo and Osun. However, in 2020, Governor Makinde announced that Oyo State would take over ownership of the institution, which was established in 1990.
In recent times, Governor Makinde has prioritized the improvement of the state’s healthcare system. Among his recent interventions is the increment of the budget allocated to health, the renovation of state-owned hospitals and the distribution of free medical and surgical equipment to health facilities across the state.
