Akwa United Takes Three-Week End of Season Break

The management of Akwa United has announced the beginning of a three-week end-of-season break for the players and officials of the club. This comes on the back of a disappointing 2022-23 Nigeria Premier Football League season, where the Promise Keepers missed out on the Super Six playoff tickets, as well as being bundled out of the Federation Cup.

As the former NPFL champions, the Akwa United Chairman, Paul Bassey, couldn’t help but express his regret over the team’s inability to qualify for the season-ending playoffs. Bassey also expressed his sadness over the fact that Akwa United lost out on continental football for the next season and the fact that the team ended the season without a trophy, making it the second year in a row.

Despite the setback, Paul Bassey commended the players and the coaches for their unending contributions and dedication to the team. The management of Akwa United is optimistic that the three-week break would help the players and officials refresh themselves mentally and come back even stronger for the next season.
