Tinubu’s Plan to Remove Fuel Subsidy Breaks Record: Charly Boy

Charles Oputa, a prominent Nigerian singer and socio-political activist, popularly known as Charly Boy, has expressed concern over President Bola Tinubu’s recent announcement to remove the fuel subsidy. According to Charly Boy, the newly inaugurated President has broken a record with his controversial remark on the subsidy.

During his inaugural speech on Monday, the President disclosed that the subsidy on fuel will no longer be sustained. This announcement has garnered several reactions amongst stakeholders, with some applauding and others condemning the decision.

Charly Boy, who is not in support of the President’s decision, claims that Tinubu’s recent statement on fuel subsidy has led to an increase in fuel prices in some parts of the country. He also questioned whether those who praised the president for his actions would suffer the consequences of the subsidy removal.

On his official Twitter page, Charly Boy tweeted, “Tinubu don break record within 24 hours after swearing-in. Fuel scarcity and fuel price have increased after announcing fuel subsidy removal. Day 1 hitting the ground running. The question is, are the BATIS going to buy this fuel in different prices from what We Buy??? We go soon learn”.
