Stanley Eguma Confident in Rivers United’s Title Defence after Victory against Sunshine Stars

In a bid to retain their title, Stanley Eguma, the head coach of Rivers United, has expressed confidence in his team following their opening day win over Sunshine Stars in the Nigeria Premier League Super Six playoffs.

The match played at the Mobolaji Johnson Arena, Onikan, Lagos, saw Ebube Duru score a second-half penalty to secure maximum points for the defending champions.

Speaking to the media after the game, Eguma stated that the victory was crucial in maintaining a winning mentality in his team.

He also added that the team made some tactical adjustments to overcome their opponents, whom they knew well.

The head coach acknowledged that it had been a good game from both sides.

The win leaves Rivers United in a good position to defend their league title and they will be looking to continue their good form against Remo Stars on matchday two.
