President Bola Tinubu arrived in Paris, France on Tuesday, in preparation for the highly-anticipated Summit on the New Global Financing Pact. The summit, which will be hosted by French President Emmanuel Macron, aims to explore avenues for restoring financial stability to countries facing immediate economic challenges.

President Tinubu received a warm reception at the airport upon his arrival. Ambassador Kayode Laro, accompanied by several high-ranking officials from the Nigerian Embassy and the French Ministry of Foreign Affairs, greeted the President after his plane landed at 6:47 PM local time.

On Wednesday, President Tinubu is scheduled to receive detailed briefings from Ambassador Laro, Permanent Secretary Adamu Lamuwa, and other officials regarding Nigeria’s stance on the summit. Additionally, discussions regarding sideline meetings with world leaders and multilateral institutions are expected to take place.

The two-day summit, commencing on Thursday, June 22nd and concluding on the 23rd, will focus on finding innovative strategies to restore fiscal space for heavily indebted nations, mobilize funding solutions for countries vulnerable to climate change, and provide relief for economies grappling with the repercussions of the Covid-19 pandemic and energy crises.

President Tinubu is accompanied by members of the Presidential Policy Advisory Council and other senior government officials, who will support his participation in the high-level discussions and negotiations.
