Imo lawmaker hails House of Reps Speaker on legislative aides appointment

The member representing Ideato North/South Federal Constituency of Imo State, Ikenga Imo Ugochinyere Ikeagwuonu, has commended the Speaker of the House of Representatives for ensuring inclusivity in his appointment of 33 legislative aides.

The lawmaker on Tuesday reacted to the appointment of aides on Monday by the Speaker, Tajudeen Abbas, barely three weeks after taking over the lower legislative chamber of the 10th National Assembly.

According to a statement he made available to Media Talk Africa on Tuesday, Ugochinyere pointed out that the appointment of Dr Dunkwu Chamberlain as Deputy Chief of Staff (Legislative) showed the detribalised nature of the speaker.

Commending the speaker, he insisted that the parliament will work for the people under this circumstance, particularly with the calibre of people brought on board to serve as aides.

According to him: “Abbas has proven to be a very considerate man. Not only does he have a good eye to scout competent people to assist him in the discharge of his legislative duties, but he also ensures the inclusiveness of all zones.

“Chamberlain’s contribution to the victory of Hon. Tajudeen Abbas as Speaker of the 10th House of Representatives can never be overlooked.”

Abbas had on Monday announced the appointment of aides in a statement issued by his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Musa Krishi.
