Primate Elijah Ayodele Explains Why Tinubu Cannot Probe Buhari Government

The leader of INRI Evangelical Spiritual Church, Primate Elijah Ayodele, has shed light on why President Bola Tinubu cannot probe his predecessor, Muhammadu Buhari.

In a recent statement, Primate Ayodele suggested that if Tinubu were to initiate a probe into Buhari’s administration, it would inevitably “run down” his own government. This observation comes in the wake of reports claiming that Buhari advised Tinubu against probing his former appointees.

However, Buhari’s former spokesman, Garba Shehu, has refuted these reports, asserting that the former president never made such an appeal.

During his address titled “Warning to the Nations” in Lagos on Saturday, Ayodele expressed his opinion, stating, “This government will do better than Buhari’s administration, but they will be unable to take action regarding the previous government because doing so would jeopardize their own administration.”

Ayodele also took the opportunity to urge Tinubu to prioritize press freedom and freedom of speech during his tenure as president.

He advised, “I am not against Tinubu’s government; in fact, I support it. However, there have been instances where individuals are victimized for speaking out. If press freedom and freedom of speech are not upheld, the potential benefits will be limited.”
