Customs seeks Ribadu’s collaboration to end land borders smuggling

The Acting Comptroller-General of Customs, Bashir Adewale Adeniyi, has sought collaboration with the National Security Adviser, Mallam Nuhu Ribadu, to end land borders smuggling.

Abdullahi Maiwada, the spokesperson of the Nigeria Customs Service, disclosed this in a statement on Wednesday.

The statement explained that the CG of Customs is seeking support from the NSA to end border insecurity and the menace of smuggling.

Adeniyi on Tuesday had paid a courtesy visit to the National Security Adviser, Ribadu, at his Office in Abuja.

During the meeting, Adeniyi emphasised the need to address some of the challenges associated with manning Nigeria’s vast land borders.

“The porous nature of the nation’s borders necessitates this visit to NSA to fashion the best way to tackle the menace of smuggling, which has adverse effects on our economy and security,” the CGC stated.
