The Neem Foundation, a Non-Governmental Organization (NGO), urges Kaduna State Government agencies to collaborate with NGOs for achieving peace in the state.
With optimism, the foundation believes that partnering with relevant stakeholders can create a better society for the populace.
During a one-day workshop in Kaduna, Mukaffa Nasir, the Community Dialogue Officer at Neem Foundation’s Kaduna State Field Office, revealed that the meeting aimed to highlight the successes achieved in their engagement with Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association of Nigeria and All Farmers Association of Nigeria.
Nasir emphasized the need for government support in peacebuilding programs and called on agencies like the Peace Commission, Ministry of Home and Internal Security, Ministry of Human Services and Social Development, and Interfaith Mediation Centre to sustain these initiatives.
SP Ibrahim Mohammed, representing the Kaduna State Police Command, lauded Neem Foundation’s peacebuilding efforts, particularly in promoting peaceful coexistence between farmers and the Cattle Breeders Association.
Other workshop attendees shared their positive experiences, expressing how engagement with the foundation helped resolve land disputes, community clashes, and other issues.
The Agom Kufana, a traditional ruler, emphasized the impact of the Neem Foundation’s engagement in bringing peace to their community and called for its continued sustainability.
Addressing the workshop, Rebecca Sako-John, the Permanent Commissioner of the Kaduna Peace Commission, reaffirmed the commission’s commitment to partnering with relevant stakeholders to resolve conflicts and promote peace in communities across the state.
