The Oyo State House of Assembly has, on Friday, read the names of nine commissioner-nominees sent by Governor Seyi Makinde.

The governor had, on Thursday, July 20, forwarded the additional list of nine commissioner-nominees to the Assembly for screening and approval, causing the Assembly to hold an emergency plenary on Friday, presided over by the Deputy Speaker, Rt. Hon. Muhammed Fadeyi, who brought up the matter under Message from the Executive.

The list includes Mr Abiodun Aikonmo, Mr Segun Olayiwola, Dr Wasiu Olatubosun and Prof Abdulwaheed Soliu.

Others are: Mr Majeed Mogbojunbola, Mr Olasunkanmi Olaleye, Mr Williams Akinfunmilayo, Prince Dotun Oyelade and Mr Obafemi Ademola Ojo.

Out of the nine names, three people, including Olatunbosun, Olayiwola and Olaleye, are returnee commissioners, while others too had served in various capacities during Makinde’s first term in office.

The House ruled that the nominees should appear for screening on Tuesday, 25th of July, 2023.

Governor Makinde had earlier sent seven commissioner nominees who had been screened by the lawmakers.

They are Mr Adeniyi Adebisi, Mr Akinola Ojo, Prof Musibau Babatunde, Prof Daud Sangodoyin, Bar Seun Ashamu, Alhaja Fausat Joke Sanni and Mrs Toyin Balogun.

As it stands, two names are still outstanding to complete the 18 ministries in the state.
