Rivers State Donates 48-Rooms Lodge To Corps Members

The management of the National Youth Service Corps, NYSC has received a 48-room self-contained Corps Lodge built by the Executive Chairman of Ikwerre Local Government Area of Rivers State, Samuel Nwanosike.

The project is to appreciate the NYSC Scheme, especially Corps Members for their laudable contributions in improving the living standards of the people of Ikwerre LGA.

The landmark project, which was inaugurated by the Director General of NYSC, Brigadier General Yusha’u Ahmed comprises two courtyards, two receptions, and fully furnished rooms with state-of-the-art electronics and kitchens, built to mark the 2nd year of the 2nd term in the office of the Executive Chairman.

Speaking during the ceremony, Nwanosike described NYSC as a strong tool of national unity and integration for all Nigerians.

He recalled his memorable service year experiences in Edo State, noting that he was well treated, hence, his motivation to extend the same gesture to Corps Members serving in his Local Government Area.

The Chairman also commended the Corps Members in the council area for their commitment, steadfastness, and resilience in lifting the standard of living of the people of the area especially, in the education sector where they have been exceptionally outstanding.

He thanked the NYSC Director General, Brigadier General Yusha’u Ahmed for his sterling leadership qualities since assuming duty.

In his remarks, the NYSC Chief Executive lauded the magnanimity of the Council boss abd urged other Local Government Chairmen in the country to take a cue from Nwanosike’s landmark gesture.

Gen Ahmed also used the occasion to appreciate the people of Ikwerre LGA for helping the Scheme to deepen its topmost policy thrust hinged on unwavering security and welfare of Corps Members.

He therefore called on the Corps Members to reciprocate the gesture of the Chairman through renewed commitment and dedication to duty while in Ikwerre Community.
