Insecurity: Abia Govt will not pay criminals to ceasefire – Ubah

The Senior Special Adviser on Security Matters to the Governor of Abia State, Naval Commander Macdonald Ubah (Rtd), on Wednesday, reiterated the determination of the present administration in the state to combat any acts of criminality in any part of Abia.

He also disclosed that the state government had put in place an effective security architecture aimed at ensuring improvement in intelligence gathering and surveillance in crime fighting and prevention in Abia.

Ubah, who stated this, in an interview with Media Talk Africa on Wednesday in Umuahia, recalled how different gangs of kidnappers and other criminal elements were being settled to cease their wicked destruction of lives and looting of Public properties under the past administrations of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the state.

According to the security aide, “The Governor Alex Otti-led administration will not leave any stone unturned in dealing ruthlessly with criminal gangsters who attempt to constitute disturbances to the peace and security of the state and her people, saying gone are those days ransoms were being paid to mindless sets of abductors and bandits in securing a victim’s release from their captivity.”

He frowned at the recent murder of two policemen in Aba, the commercial centre of the state, following a clash between the security agencies and traders at Ariaria International market last week.
