Appeal Court grants plea by APC candidates to present witnesses, evidence in election matter

An Appeal Court sitting in Abuja has granted the prayers of three All Progressives Congress, APC, House of Assembly candidates, in Rivers State seeking the Election Petition Tribunal to allow them complete their witnesses and evidence.

The court also struck out the ruling of the tribunal, which foreclosed the Rivers State APC House of Representatives candidate for Asari/Toru and Akuku/Toru Federal Constituency, Clinton West, from bringing in witnesses and tendering all the exhibits material.

Media Talk Africa reports that the House of Assembly candidates for Omuma State Constituency, Kelechi Ubani, Mazi Prince Ernest and Raymond Nwokocha of Ogba/Egbema/Ndoni state constituency one and two, were foreclosed from bringing in witnesses and tendering all original results as evidence needed to pursue their case.

Ruling on the appeal filed by the APC candidates, the panel of the appeal struck out the tribunal‘s ruling and instructed the tribunal to allow the APC candidates enter their witnesses, materials and exhibits.
