UEFA Super Cup: Man City defeat Sevilla 5-4 on penalties

Manchester City defeated Sevilla 5-4 on penalties to win the 2023 UEFA Super Cup on Wednesday night.

The Premier League champions were playing for the trophy for the first time in their history, after clinching the Champions League in June.

But it was the LaLiga side who started brightly and took the lead through Youssef En-Nesyri.

En-Nesyri rose highest to power Marcos Acuna’s cross in the first half.

City levelled in the second half through Cole Palmer and the game went straight to a shoot-out after 90 minutes.

The first nine kicks were converted before Nemanja Gudelj missed for Sevilla.
