The Inauguration of Nigeria’s 24th Attorney General and Minister of Justice

Nigeria’s legal landscape witnessed a momentous event with the inauguration of Lateef Fagbemi SAN as the 24th Attorney General and Minister of Justice. As he assumed office, Fagbemi emphasized the importance of dedicated service for the progress of Nigeria.

In his address to the ministry’s management staff, Fagbemi underscored the strategic role of the Ministry of Justice in the Nigerian project. He urged the staff to maintain strict adherence to ethics and regulations in all their endeavors, emphasizing the Ministry’s responsibility in overseeing contracts entering the country.

Fagbemi expressed his optimism for a successful tenure, acknowledging that achieving this goal would require the support and cooperation of the ministry’s staff. He also made a promise to appoint more Senior Advocates of Nigeria (SAN) to the ministry’s management, ensuring a wealth of legal expertise within the organization.

The Attorney General called for a strong partnership with the solicitor general of the federation, highlighting the need for transformative initiatives in the justice sector. Mrs. Betrace Jedy-Agba, the Solicitor General of the federation, pledged her support and loyalty to the Minister in fulfilling the mandates of the Ministry.
