Ondo SWAN Elects New Executives: Zonal VP Calls for Unity in South West

Segun Giwa, a distinguished journalist from the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), has been chosen as the Chairman of the Sports Writers Association of Nigeria (SWAN) for the Ondo State chapter. The election, which had been postponed multiple times, finally took place on Friday at the SWAN Secretariat in the state. The process was overseen by Mr. Ayodeji Ogunsakin, the Zonal Vice President of SWAN in the South West region.

Joseph Adesuyan of African Independent Television (AIT) and Femi Atolagbe of Hope Newspaper were also elected as General Secretary and Financial Secretary, respectively.

The proceedings began with an address by the caretaker chairman, Femi Dairo, who provided a detailed account of the election process and urged the incoming executive to foster unity within SWAN. In his first official assignment as Zonal Vice President, Ogunsakin dissolved the caretaker committee and stressed the importance of maintaining peace and harmony within the association.

Expressing his commitment to restoring the lost glory of SWAN in the South-West region, Ogunsakin extended his appreciation to all individuals who expressed interest in the association. The newly elected chairman, Segun Giwa, expressed his gratitude to the members for their trust and confidence. He acknowledged the challenges ahead and pledged to work tirelessly to address them.

Giwa highlighted the significance of collaboration and promised to reach out to all members to foster unity and progress within the association.
